Tax Day Is Coming
The deadline to file Income Taxes will soon be here! Kansas Public Library has tax forms available for Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri as well as the Federal IRS tax forms. If you are looking for a specific or special form, we can help you with that too. We can not provide a person to prepare your taxes though. You will have to prepare your own taxes or hire a official CPA tax preparer.

The Friends of the Library was the founding organization of the library in Kansas, OK. The visionary for a library was Miss Christa Carlton, a retired school teacher from the Kansas Public Schools. The Friends of the Library of Kansas, OK was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in January 1998.
The organization started with 25 members who tirelessly volunteered their time doing the manual labor to open the building with 3,000 donated books and materials. Miss Carlton, teamed with Miss Ruth King, wrote applications for Grant Monies, petitioned for community donations, lead in the solicitation of business sponsorships and hosted many hog-fries to raise the funds necessary to operate a public library.
The Kansas Public Library opened its doors a year later on February 2, 1999 in a cooperative effort by the Friends of the Library and the town of Kansas, OK, a partnership that exists today. # Later the library became a branch of the Eastern OK District Library System, while maintaining its unique community spirit. This arrangement allows for the library to be funded by public funds although donations of books and money is always welcome.
Adventure in Blogging
Welcome to a new blog site. This blog will be dedicated to the Kansas Public Library and the community of Kansas, OK located in south Delware County.
Kansas Public Libray this week is celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss, author of many children’s early reading books, and there are a lot of them. Mrs. Betty Phillips, as the Cat in the Hat, read two story books to children at the library on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Rachel directed the children to create their own Dr. Seuss puppet. Children reading five books were rewarded with a free Dr. Seuss book of their own. Of course a birthday party is not complete without refreshments!
The next library event will be for adults: the Adult Reading Group scheduled for Monday March 21st at 2 PM. The book selection is Heart Menders by Andy Andrews. See how people learn how to deal with the effects of World War II on their personal lives.
Watch for more information in coming days.
